Principal Message

Dear Rancho Tehama Families and Community,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I hope this note finds you well and that you and your children have had a wonderful summer filled with relaxation, fun, and time spent with loved ones. It is truly an honor to continue serving as your principal at Rancho Tehama Elementary School and to lead such an extraordinary school community into another exciting year of learning.

Our dedicated teachers and staff in the Corning Union Elementary School District have been working hard to prepare our campus and classrooms for a vibrant, safe, and engaging school year.

My unwavering belief remains the same: every child can reach their full potential when supported by a united community and a strong partnership between families and school staff. By building confidence, curiosity, and resilience in our students, we empower them with the knowledge and tools to shape their own futures, our local community, and beyond.

At Rancho Tehama, my role is principal, but at home, my favorite title is husband and dad. My wife, Kate, and I will be celebrating 12 years of marriage this October. Our daughter, Mabel, is now 10 years old, and our younger child, Otto, is turning 5 this fall. Watching them grow reminds me daily of the immense trust you place in us as educators, and I share in your hopes and dreams for a joyful, successful school year.

To our students: I cannot wait to see your friendly faces back on campus! I hope you are coming back energized, curious, and ready to learn, read, and grow together. It is going to be a fantastic year!

Please know that my door is always open. I welcome your collaboration, conversation, and positive involvement throughout the year. Let us keep our students at the heart of everything we do as we celebrate our collective successes in the 2026–2027 school year.

Warm regards,

Mr. Josh Niehues
Principal, Rancho Tehama Elementary School
